In the fall of 2010, Scotty Robson began looking for players for a new musical venture that would eventually turn into The Stone Breakers. He teamed up with longtime cover band refugee Skip Roberson and pulled guitar teacher Dan Duncan out of an early retirement. The three players quickly worked up a few dozen songs and put the word out they needed a singer. They found BJ Lakey through plain dumb luck and dozens of vocalist auditions. As the band’s commitments grew, Skip was replaced with Valency bassist Brendan Bennett. Since then, they’ve built a reputation as an entertaining and diverse act whose setlist usually runs from Metallica to Chris Stapleton and all points in between. While known primarily as a club band, The Stone Breakers have played a diverse roster of events ranging from tough man competitions like the Warrior Dash, Bike rallies, Car and Van Shows and have even been the world’s most rawking wedding band.
